Send Research Enquiry

A standard remote research enquiry and an extended remote research enquiry must be submitted only in English or Polish. Any remote research enquiries submitted in any other language will not be considered.

Remote research enquiries submitted electronically (via https://pism.org.uk/send-research-enquiry/ or https://pism.org.uk/pl/wyslij-zapytanie-badawcze/) or by post (following acceptance of the terms set out in this Price List of the Archives of the PISM) are processed in the order in which they are received. The current waiting time is approximately six months.

A standard remote research enquiry is charged at £50.00 (up to one hour), with no guarantee that relevant records will be located. A standard enquiry covers research relating to one individual or one specific subject.

An extended remote research enquiry is subject to an additional fee of £30.00 for each subsequent hour of research, with no guarantee that relevant records will be located. An extended enquiry covers research into an entire family or a group of up to five individuals. The person commissioning an extended remote research enquiry must specify the maximum amount they are prepared to spend on the research.

PISM reserves the right not to undertake any remote research enquiry without giving a reason.

In addition to the research enquiry fee (whether standard or extended), charges will apply for copies of any archival material identified (digital scans, photographs or photocopies). The PISM Archives reserve the right to determine the most appropriate format for copies where an order consists of several individual pages. If the applicant prefers a particular format, this should be stated when submitting the enquiry. See: Price List of the Archives of the PISM
